Moving Toward A Quiet Trust
Moving Toward A Quiet Trust
Teach me, and I will be quiet; show me where I have been wrong.
Job 6:24
God created us and put us on this earth to realize how miraculously were made, and to discover that a simple life is anchored in a simple truth. God loves us too much to let us go. Ever.
It doesn't matter if we get it all wrong some days. When we rush past opportunities to listen, to rest, to pray, to stop and get directions, there's a good chance we'll get a whole bunch of things wrong. But grace is patient, certain, and steadying.
Every day is another chance to push away from the chaos. When we get entangled in the idea that we must accomplish a set number of tasks or prove our worth by the world's measure of success, we risk never being able to slow down and learn how to simply be quiet. It's a discipline will master only by asking for God's help.
He sees the things we can't see. He's written our days. He wants us to remember how sufficient He is and how infinitely He cares. It's up to us to quiet the noisy demands in our heads, the loud expectations we put on ourselves, and the nagging and possibility of perfection – in our homes, our jobs, our families, and our social media posts.
Maybe we can start our days in a different way. Our eyes open with a quiet thank you. Our first deep breath brings a quiet smile. A healthy stretch from head to toe releases our hours into God's hands. There is nothing more comforting or faithful than His care. It's as relentless as our list of things to do, but He can be trusted with what gets done, and what doesn't.
Remember the moments that make up the minutes belong to the one who teaches us to simply trust.

In Psalm 46:10 we read, “Be still and know that I Am God!” What does it mean to be still before God? There are probably many answers we could give to that question but ultimately it means acknowledging that He is God and we are not.
So often we spend our lives trying to fill God's shoes. We seek to control every aspect of our lives. We make ourselves the managers of everything. Everything from what happens in the lives of our children, to when, where, and how we will retire. We spend our lives attempting to create our own destiny.
Now there's a word we can play with, destiny! What is our destiny? Is your destiny to get rich, or be famous? Do you want to be remembered as a great success? Or even something more holy like, I want to be remembered as a great Christian. What is your destiny?
We are given the answer but somehow, we just don't listen. Your destiny is to be with God forever. The moment God called you unto Himself through faith in Christ you became His child. Who is He? He is the great I Am. He is the one who existed before creation and He will be all that is there when creation is folded up like a garment and put away. God is God, but remember, He is the God who loves you and wants you.
We do not have to live our lives worried about tomorrow because tomorrow is in God's hands. We can focus on the moments of today and be at peace in our hearts.
My encouragement to you is a message I've been told numerous times, “Just let go and let God.”
Blessings on your day,
Pastor Russ
